V8 Focus!

Well, here goes, my first thread! I was reading last weeks issue of auto express (UK magazine) and was shocked to see that Ford will be making a V8 engined Focus 8O (Who needs the RS!), although apparently only you guys & gals in the US will be getting it. It will use a 4.6litre Mustang engine supposedly tuned to 5.0litres! There were no official performance figures available but it doesn't take a genius to work out that It's gonna be bloody quick! We also know that it will be rear wheel drive for the obvious reason that the power output will be far to great for the front wheels to cope with and torque steer will also prove impossible, I suppose four wheel drive would be an option but hey.....ya just cant beat good 'ol RWD right? Oh, yeah and power output will be in exess of 400bhp! Wahoo GO FORD!!!

i copied this strait out of autoweek......
rear-drive,v8focus rs8.
now ford itself makes a kit that will allow you to put a v8 engine in a focus and use the power to spin the rear wheels. and just not any v8. in this case it's the 5.0 cammer crate engine tuned to make 420 hp @ 6700 rpm and 370 lb ft @5k rpm. mercy! the rs8 concept uses the european focus rs as a donor, but when the kit comes out early next year it will fit right in your u.s-spec focus. this kit is expected to cost about $5,000.00 but the cammer v8 will sticker at $14,995.00. then you have to put it in. so it ain't cheap. but wont it be fun to thrill the gang at the next club drifting event.
8O
edit, i screwed up on the torque its 370 not 395.
i think its time to find a junk focus.

Ford is showing off their new crate motor at SEMA this year.. and what better way to show it off then put it in 3 crazy cars. first off, some info about the new engine..

* Ford Racing Performance Parts new 5.0L "Cammer" EFI V8 crate engine features 420 horsepower and "plug-and-play" engine electronics.

* Additional 5.0L "Cammer" variants include a carbureted version and a supercharged and intercooled V8.

* Ford Racing showcases the new "Cammer" in three new performance projects: Focus RS8, 1965 Mustang Fastback, and a 1953 Ford F-100 Panel Truck.

LAS VEGAS, Nov. 4, 2003 - At todayís Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show, Ford Racing Performance Parts (FRPP) took the wraps off three in-house hot rod projects powered the company's all-new 5.0-liter "Cammer" V-8 crate engine - which will be available from a FRPP dealer or warehouse distributor beginning by year's end.

Fordís "Cammer" cars displayed at SEMA - the 420 horsepower rear-wheel drive Focus RS8, a 420 horsepower carbureted 1965 Mustang Fastback, and the 600 horsepower supercharged FR100 Panel Truck - are the ultimate expressions of true hot rodding: big engines in fantastic-looking packages. They use Ford factory performance technology melded with the ingenuity of hot rod thinking to deliver world-class power in thoroughly modern packages.

"We've said all along that we intend to grow the interest in overhead-cam technology," said Dan Davis, director of Ford Racing Technology, in explaining the "Cammer" project cars. "There's no reason why a crate engine can't start, run and perform in an aftermarket setting as well as the engines in today's production automobiles and trucks. We see the 5.0-liter "Cammer" crate engine as the future for tuners, project-vehicle builders and aftermarket car and truck enthusiasts."
