2000 Daewoo Leganza CDX Transmission lock

I have a 2000 Daewoo Leganza CDX with the auto transmission. Recently, I had a CEL with a "Cylinder #1 misfire" message. After replacing the sparkplugs and sparkplug wires and resetting the codes, the light has not come back on and the car starts and runs well.

The problem is that it will not shift into gear. There is a key lock that I can use, but I shouldn't have to. The only reference I find to this is from the Owner's manual that basically says 'if this happens use your key to shift the vehicle into drive and take the care to the nearest dealership.'

The vehicle has ~60k miles on it and the transmission fluid level is good.

What could be causing this? It ran and drove relatively well even with the spark plug misfire. I need to get this inspected and I'm sure that it won't pass like this. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have a the same car. what it is is the brake switch. have some look for your brake lights when you hit the brakes you will come to find out that the brake lights dont come on. all you need to do is order the brake light switch and the problem should be fixed

Only one month shy of being a 4 year old problem.

Good catch though.
