97 sentra, pulling codes, check engine light and poor fuel economy
Have a 1997 Nissan Sentra, 1.6L, automatic, 4 door sedan w/air.
The issue is hard starting, poor fuel economy and the dreaded check engine light.
I replaced the following purposes (was time for a tune up anyways)
spark plugs, rotor, distributer cap, plug wires, air and oil filters along with a oil change.
The car starts better but still has poor fuel economy and the check engine light is still on. (I knew that the tune up wouldn't or should'nt affect the engine light).
I'm leaning towards the O2 sensor being bad. It could be the injectors are dirty (I'm going to clean them anyways) but dirty injectors would not account for the check engine light being on.
Wanting to get verification before I do anything else.
I was wondering if there was any way to pull the codes without haveing to fork out for a scanner...yea, I know, I'm cheap.
Thanks for your insight and help
