Engine type

I have been reading these forums alot lately and I see people talking about different engine types to switch in and out of cars. I just want to know what kind of engine my car has, how do I find this out?

An easy, non-complicated but not completely accurate way is to open up your hood and count your spark plugs. You have an 86', so I'm figuring that you've misplaced your owners manual.

You can also look up the model info on your car at www.intellichoice.com
it gives you the general stats on your car.

here is the problem -
- 1986 DX 2 Dr Hatchback
- 1986 DX 4 Dr Sedan
- 1986 LX 4 Dr Sedan
- 1986 LXi 2 Dr Hatchback
- 1986 LXi 4 Dr Sedan

those are the only listed accords for 1986 that I can find anywhere on the net. mine is an 86 EX-i and I'm not sure why, that is what the ownership says also. The only info ive got about this anywhere is that it was a canadian only model, ayone know where I can get info on it, or is it not really an EX-i??

just one more question I have about this if someone would be willing to answer me. I also bought a second 86 accord thinking the parts would be interchangable. I didnt look under the hood or anything when i bought it, i paid 100 and i drove it home, i looked under the hood the other day and it is carburated. i was just wondering if the tranny and everything is interchangable with my car?

They had carb'ed and Fuel Injected A20 motors. The Tranny should be the same.
