LS1 police package

would like to know if there is any difference's between the ls1 in a corvette and the ls1 offered in the impala police package or are they the same for hp

Modified Impala -Police Issue-

Impala
Offered as a police pursuit vehicle since its introduction in 1999, the Chevrolet 9C1 Impala Police Package is unique among police models from any manufacturer employed in that role domestically. You see, itís not just a spin-off of the civilian Impala; it was designed concurrently for both police duty and as a civilian model. That means that all safety features available in the Police Package Impala. are also available in the civilian Impala fitted with standard components that were designed for police duty.

A front-wheel-drive patrol car, the Impala features a 3.8-liter cast iron V-6 rated at 200 horsepower at 5200 rpm mated to a four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. It can go faster, but itís artificially limited to a 129-mph top speed by a fuel cutoff. Aside from upgrades to the four-wheel independent suspension (heavy-duty stabilizer bars fore and aft, reinforced front struts, revised spring rates, and shock valving, among other items), the Impala Police Package also includes a high-output alternator and both engine and transaxle oil coolers.

Many fwd vehicles are disabled after seemingly minor front-end collisions. Chevrolet engineers designed an engine cradle for the Impala that will survive striking a 6-inch curb at a speed of 25 mph, with only damage to the tires and/or wheels.

The Impala is powered by a 3.8-liter V-6 engine that develops 200 horsepower. And although it weighs about 300 pounds less than Ford's Crown Victoria, the Chevy's performance was noticeably slower than the Ford. Zero-to-60 times are slightly more than one-half-second slower than the Crown Victoria, and in 0- to 100-mph runs the Impala is slower by one and a half-seconds.

But speed isn't everything in a police car. And a huge vote of confidence has been given to the Impala by the New York City Police Department.
Based on two years of dependable service, it has been reported that NYPD plans to eventually convert its entire patrol fleet to Impalas. The on-duty Chevys have received high marks for durable engines, transmissions, and brakes.

The primary safety features include police-calibrated four-wheel ABS with heavy-duty front pads (Chevy proudly points out the Impalaís shorter stopping distances from 60 mph than its competitors), driver and front passenger air bags, and driverís side-impact air bag.

However, the word on the Impala is not all good. There have been reports of some frame members cracking. To address this concern, Chevrolet is changing the alloy of the affected frame members. Additionally a running production change will be made this year with the engine mounts and front springs to redistribute vertical road shocks.

LOL I heard cops in WI were going to move to Dodge for their cop cars, Could you imagine getting chased by a damn Dodge Stratus???

Dodge is upping the ante in the law enforcement market with a new rear-wheel-drive Dodge Magnum police car powered by the legendary HEMI V-8 engine. With police requirements squarely on their radar, Dodge engineers integrated specific law enforcement vehicle features and functionality into the original design of the Dodge Magnum, minimizing the need for numerous aftermarket retrofits. "Dodge Magnum is bold, powerful and capable," said Darryl Jackson, Vice President, Dodge Marketing. "Dodge Magnum offers affordable performance to those who patrol and protect our communities." Electronic Stability Program (ESP), All-speed Traction Control, four-wheel anti-lock brakes with emergency brake assist and improved tire design are standard equipment on the Dodge Magnum SXT for special service uses (as they are on all Magnum SXT models). Combined, these features provide balance and control for officers in a variety of surface and weather conditions. These same advanced technologies also are standard on the 2006 Dodge Magnum police package models.

"With rear-wheel drive and HEMI power at the pavement, the Dodge Magnum police unit will provide the optimum performance option," said Ray Fisher, Vice President - Fleet and Remarketing. "Dodge dominated the police car business throughout the 1960s, '70s and early '80s, and we're proud to continue our police car heritage with even more performance technology." In addition to the enhanced performance and handling available with the Dodge Magnum, the spacious interior will provide officers a balance of cargo room and flexibility. With 27.2 cubic feet behind the rear seat (71.6 cubic feet with rear seats folded flat), the Dodge Magnum offers maximum functionality for law enforcement needs. The rear cargo area features an upper flat-load floor that expands the usable cargo area when the rear seats are folded forward. Additional storage is provided for smaller items below this load floor and in deep pockets on either side of the floor.

The Dodge Magnum's "extreme access" liftgate creates an unusually large cargo opening by allowing the gate to swing up rather than out from the vehicle. The 11.3 square foot opening swallows large items such as police emergency equipment, duffel bags, dog crates, traffic cones or barricades. The 2005 Dodge Magnum SXT model will be available this fall to law enforcement agencies for special service use. For 2006, Dodge will introduce a police package, which will be offered on the Dodge Magnum model.

2006 Dodge Magnum Police Package

The 2006 Dodge Magnum will be available with a police package in the fourth quarter of 2005. The standard 3.5-liter High Output V-6 engine featured on the 2006 Dodge Magnum police package vehicle delivers 250 horsepower and 250 lb-ft. of torque for great police performance. A five-speed fully electronic transmission with steering column shifter, 18-inch V-rated tires and steel wheels, heavy-duty police brakes and linings and heavy-duty suspension will be included as standard equipment with the police package models. For the ultimate in pursuit power, the Dodge Magnum police package also will offer an optional 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine with cylinder deactivation that produces 340 horsepower and 390 lb.-ft. of torque. Chrysler Group's Multiple Displacement System (MDS) seamlessly alternates between smooth, high fuel economy four-cylinder mode when less power is needed and V-8 mode when more power is in demand. Fuel efficiency is improved by up to 20 percent with cylinder deactivation, but not at the expense of performance.

The HEMI powertrain, mated to a fully electronic five-speed automatic transmission and high-performance suspension, will give officers in pursuit situations a balance of world-class performance, power and handling.

The 2006 Dodge Magnum police package will include the following specific package items: certified speedometer, column shifter, emergency rear door lock override, heavy-duty five-link suspension system, heavy-duty alternator, heavy-duty battery, heavy-duty brakes, inoperable rear door locks and rear windows, and special police electrical wiring. Optional equipment includes: daytime running lamps, dual spot lamp, police-type heavy-duty front seats with manual lumbar adjustment and full-size spare tire. The 2006 Dodge Magnum police package will begin production in the fourth quarter of 2005. Pricing will be announced at that time "

sorry the ls1 we have is an 8cyl ex police car rear ended totaled saved the engine and harness computers anything we thought we would need for an install in a 53 f-100

Doesnt that just tempt you to become a police officer or atleast do something bad to get a ride in one of those (Getting arrested is not advised).

How would you like it if you spent a lot of time and money writing a paper, posting it on the net, and having a little a-hole named "TheSpecialist" steal it, and take credit for what you really wrote? I like how you said you didn't have time to look through my posts, but then you proved that you did.
1. You see, people have the ability to right-click, then select properties to see where the photo came from
2. Nobody believes that I took the picture, as opposed to people believing that you wrote those little essays you plagiarized.

I will F*cking hunt you down if you do 140 in my school zone. Then, you are not taking your own life into account, but rather innocent ones that are going to lead this nation in the coming years.
