Just turned 16, looking into cars now.

I just turned 16 and i've been thinking of cars, like the pros of x car and cons of x car. I was hoping i could get some suggestions on a car for me.

Some things i was looking for is:

1. Good miles per gallon**
2. Easy to get new parts and upgrade*
3. Decent stock performance (something that runs nothing too fancy)*
4. Should look good*
5. Four doors**
6. Not an suv, truck or van ***************************

Thanks in advanced if you can help me out.

--Jim

EDIT: Manual transmission prefered, but a stick wont be too bad to learn

Sounds like a Subaru WRX would suit you well. Can get a used one in the $13k-$15k range.

Too much on maintan. and repairs. Plus you're looking at 170hp FWD (GTI) vs. 227hp AWD (WRX).... I'd take the WRX

Yes, Subarus are very good to people who take good care of them and you'll end up being able to drive them forever. I own a 93 Impreza L, so I can vouch for their reliability. The WRX is a good choice, but the 2.5RS Impreza isn't a bad choice either, especially for a first car (And I get 34 MPG, and it COULD be even better ) And remember, almost everybody wrecks their first car someway or another, so why not build up to something like a WRX?

Some 4 doors cars you can consider

Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V (175hp, FWD, LSD, good handling)

Mazdaspeed Protegé (170hp, FWD, Turbo, excellent handling)

Dodge Neon SRT4 (210hp, FWD, Turbo, good handling)

Acura GSR Sedan (170hp, FWD, good aftermarket, good handling)

all these cars are good for a 16 year old and all can be found under 20k used...some alot cheaper...

Here's my choice for you...if you got real skill

BMW M3 Sedan (240hp, RWD, excellent handling)...can be found under 20k

Good luck

That's funny, here in the UK 22mpg is not particularly nice lol....35mpg is far nicer
