Best Sedan

What do you think is the best 4-door sedan under $27,000? This is overall performance, safety, handling, maintenance cost, etc?

I would go with a Subaru Impreza WRX. A very fun car, reliable, performance (227 hp), and is most certainly family oriented.

Scorched: why dont you have the club tag on?

Accord EX V-6
Acura TSX
Subaru WRX
Nissan Altima SE V6

Are among my favorites.

I was going to say the 300 too...but then I remembered you cant get the 300C hemi for under $27k. And really that's the only version worth getting, the 3.5L V6 model is grossly underpowered for its size. Actually, as I even check Chryslers website, the Touring model (the one that has the 3.5L V6) has abase msrp of $28,100...so now that's even out. that means the only 300 in the under $27k bracket is the 2.7L 190hp model, ouch, that sucks.

3700lbs and 190hp cant equal any good (Base). Nor can 3750lbs and 250hp (Touring).

The 340hp Hemi sounds real nice, but costs $34k msrp and tacks on more weight for a final weight of 4050lbs, ouch.

To put the base model into perspective....

2.7L V6 300 = 19.53lbs/hp
2.4L I4 Accord DX = 19.06lbs/hp

So it's even slower than a base model four cylinder Accord.

And definatley not under $27k. The Accord Hybrid BASES at $30k. Also, it's not the fastest Accord. It's the fastest SEDAN Accord sold in America. But it's definatley not THE fastest Accord (The Accord SIR takes that name overall) nor the fastest Accord sold in America. the fastest Accord sold in america is the Six Speed Accord V6 Coupe.

M5's are not even close to $27k.

I got a ride in one last week.

Damn....When I got out, it felt like getting out of a roller coaster.

Saab

If you can pick up an employee discount and you're concerned about safety you can score a new saab 9-3 for around $26,000. Thats without most of the options. Its the safest front/side crash tested car out there right now.
