Dream Job?

Well, I have one week of college left, and then I'll have my automotive technician's license (to start my apprenticeship). I've been applying at different places, and one of them is called MCL Motors. They sell extremely high end cars like Porsches, Land Rovers, Aston Martins, Jaguars, and Bentleys. Basically if I got hired, I'd be a lot boy for a few months, (in other words, I get to drive all those cars!) until they were satisfied with my work habits (thats how it works most dealerships). Once into the shop, I'll be working on all makes, and after a few years, specialize in one. The service manager said I had a pretty good chance, so I find out monday!

I would get to work at their U.S. HQ and be a represenitive, and designer, at BMW thepay is better but I would just be in the field of engine design, I wouldnt get to go out to the auto shows in Detroit and New York to explain my design.

yeah, porsche to me is the best of those, then bmw then ford. sorry but i have issues with american cars, they've always broken down on family vacations and left us stranded in the middle of nowhere in blazing heat. and i just don't like the style of american cars either. but my favorite car we own though happens to be american......my moms '92 plymoth voyager . that's because i'm allowed to drive it hard beacuse it's a piece of crap. it's me and my freinds stunt car. we always jump it over train tracks if theres no cars around. one time i caught about 2ft of air. it was so funny. that old van must be indestructable. anyway i'm done rambling now so i'm going to save you anymore irritation from my stupidity and stop talking.

Starts at $13/h...full benefits, unionized. After 6 months if still on the lot due to lack of space in the shop, moves up to $16/h. I don't know how much the first year apprentices make, but I imagine its on the higher end of the scale.

that's pretty good considering you get to have fun when working. i hate mowing, but i make over $20 an hour. and that helps pay for the mods i will get for my r6.

Dream job... Hmmm, I'd like to be the guy that paints lines on the road.

Heh, not.

Either a custom car fabricator or get paid to watch T.V. and eat

That too, they'd have to pay me overtime to get up and look in the fridge.

BS flag just went up in my head. Any proof to back up your claim?

And actually, turbo, painting lines of the road nets you around 50 grand a year. Not bad, considering it involves no skill, and no school.

And ym dream job is Ferrari Tester. Case closed.

Well, either that or Ebert&Roeper's Job. Getting paid to put my thumb up or down.

Well it really depends on what career you want to pursue. I took a 2 semesters in Porsche, Ford, and BMW manufactuer training. They each cost me around $3,500 a semester. I had scholarships (automotive) that helped me out there though, and my GPA was 4.2 so they gave me some credit. From there I went to work at a new Porsche dealership for around 3 months and they bumped me up to head technician, then I went over to a new Ford dealership for around 4 1/2 months, and then went to a new BMW dealership where I am currently working as a technician there.
