Okay, Iíve got something to ask about American cars so I thought that it would be appropriate to ask it in this thread. I can also kill two birds with one stone (or one post) because this thread is still a loose end to me anyway. First of all Iíll give my again on what people have had to say about the war on Iraq and then Iíll get back to the subject of ďYank tanksĒ. Thatís as in American civilian cars and not the likes of the Sherman and Abrams Just a little joke to lighten the mood

no, they drop laser-guided bombs directly on targets that are actually targets (as opposed to wars like Viet Nam where they practiced such wonderous tactics as "carpet bombing" and "Operation Ranch Hand" where Agent Orange was sprayed indiscriminately)
if there was a bomb dropped, there was a reason for it, and there was only a certain amount of damage done
i dare you to compile the data and compare this war against any other war in the past century that the US has participated in, lord knows we've saved Europe enough
the civilian deaths will be less
the amount of destruction will be less
the casualties are most definetly less
tax payers money? that's iffy at best, but that's going to be the only one increased negatively, how much would you pay to better someone's life? a whole country's life? we aren't done, and we won't ever be if we aren't allowed to finish, there are still parts of Europe recovering from WWII

civilian deaths? shit...
when military members hide out in protected buildings, that building almost always loses it's protection, and those buildings get bombed
this is a provision of many various war protocols, so who caused those civilian deaths? the soldiers that canceled out the protection, or the soldiers dropping the bombs?

what about what the military is doing to help the iraqi people? you don't hear about that because you only get the news
i get to talk to people who are actually there, or who have been there in the past few months
some of the stories i've heard, some of the lives that have been changed for the better
yes, there was a point to this war

Although having the eloquence of a drunkard choking on his own vomit, you made some good factual points. Iím aware that what I did was sum up war in general but it gets me angry to think that the war on Iraq could have been avoided if we had taken a criminal like Saddam Hussein out of power after the Gulf War. Although it was like you were trying to argue with me, I agree with everything that you said... except the name-calling. You made the stunningly obvious point that ďwe arenít done, and we wonít ever be if we arenít allowed to finishĒ - Iím starting to Ďsound like a broken record' when I say if Saddam Hussein hadnít been allowed to stay in power after the Gulf War then it would have been finished years ago.
What I was saying in the post that started this argument was, I believe that Bush and Blair decided to start a war with Saddam Hussein because theyíd literally been on the warpath since the September 11th attack 2001.

SuperJew said it himself that the apparent WMDs were a made-up excuse and I got the feeling that BavarianWheels agreed with him. I never said that there wasnít a point to this war. Actually in England on the news, they showed the coalition troops with the Iraqi people and when I said that Bush and Blair left Iraq in a mess with no official replacement government on standby, I didnít mean that the coalition troops had left the country. I respect what both of our troops are doing but I think that we all agree that even without the Marshall Plan it would have been wrong for Bush and Blair not to help out the Iraqis after the destruction.

Back to the original topic, do all American cars have red rear indicators? Is it just the rear indicators that arenít amber? Is it not enough that the rear lights and brake lights are red? Surely it makes more sense for the rear indicators to be something other than red. I doubt that all American cars do have red rear indicators but Iíd appreciate it if someone could tell me what the deal is.

No. Some have amber turn indicators and some have red. Unlike Europe and most of the rest of the world the US, for whatever reason, seems to think red is okay. Most places it's amber is the law, not here. My personal opinion is that it's just "that's how we've always done it so it's good enough".

Problem is people don't realize the press and goverment lie to you. You have no clue as to what really went on with Iraq and the real reason we went to war. And someone posted "they has trucks that were able to produce toxins but they werent using them" Look, you don't wait until something happens to come up with a solution. Don't forget perl harbor. 9/11 was a whole lot more deaths than that. Like Bush said, this country will not be intimidated by a bunch of rag heads. When theres a time to fight you have to fight. If not, you won't have a country very long. There will be a lot of deaths in the war and people seem to make a huge deal of it. Don't tell me you can fight a "war" with no bloodshed. Come on, who are you trying to kid around with.

I think it is safe to say that every country has dark secrets and made terrible, senseless, and stupid mistakes in the past and present.

Having said that, the US is still the best place to live because of guaranteed freedoms, high standard of living, strong and stable dollar, and cultural diversity and acceptance. All this is quite clear to an immigrant.

Having said THAT, id still say Americans are the most ignorant (with the positive connotations) people in the world.

Whether that is true or not, and I highly doubt it, in the US we still have among the cheapest gas prices in the world. So instead of complaining about how much it costs (not saying you specifically did but alot of people do) we should enjoy the fact that that it's so affordable.

Well that's hard to say based on just that. Compared to when I lived in England the dollar is weak. At that time the exchange rate was in the area of $1.60-1.80 = 1 pound. Currency rates fluctuate worldwide so it's hard to make the balnket statement 'the dollar is strong'. Right now it's somewhat weak against the euro and strong against the yen. See what I mean?

By the way, your conversion is bakwards. Right now the $ vs pound is around 2:1.

You typed "as for the brit cars" (obviously you're not familiar with that key that says "Caps Lock" on it or the one with the arrow pointing upwards underneath it) and then changed the subject to refrigerators
