Car Auctions!!!

Whats the deal with car auctions. I hear that a lot of them are bad because the cars are mostly the ones that have been in accidents and all that. Any advice?

depends where you go and what the auction is for. often they are accident vehicles, but sometimes they're just fleet cars and stuff.

It does depend on the auction, like if its repo/government seized cars, ex government/work vehicles, random peoples car, etc. You can get lucky sometimes and get a great deal. The problems with some is that you cant always hear the vehicle run and you cant take them for a test drive so you gotta go by gut or looks.

the ones we get over here aren't. the cop cars maybe, but the ex-govt fleet cars have usually got like 20-30000kms on them.

The good thing about Auctions is that you can usually have as much time as to need, before the Auction starts, to have a look at any of the vehicles going under the hammer. You can also usually start the cars up etc.

In the UK our Ex-Police & Government vehicles may have a high mileage and have been driven hard, but chances are they would have been maintained regardless of cost and serviced regularly.

I wouldn't advise going to an Auction by yourself if you're new to it though!

If it looks good, and sounds good, chances are that it is good!

Check all documentation thoroughly though, although the Auction company tend to make sure their motors aint dodgy
