How safe is buying a car on ebay??

As some of you all know I was recently in the car market searching for a ride. Well I was looking up some cars on ebay motors and found some good deals. I was wondering if you could really trust ebay. I'm in Chicago and I was looking at cars in florida and california, ITs kinda a long trip to go check out each car I was interested in. So can you really trust the sellers on ebay motors to sell you a good car as opposed to a lemon?????

Well, I bought two cars so far on ebay, and one was found on ebay, then bought at the dealership it was advertised from. I sold my old motorhome on ebay, and I'm trying to "win" a parts car for my project on there today.

They were exactly as advertized. But I specifcally don't try to get cars that are overpriced, and I know enough about what I 'm looking at to know from pictures and description if the seller's pushing somthing that ins't as advertised. AND I'm usually looking at projects, so I go into it assuming things need work.

But if you can't test drive them before you buy em then that would mean you would be paying for repair bills if there was something wrong with the tranny or engine

Usually you can get a mechanical checkout on the cars that are supposed to be in good shape. Like I said, I only buy cheap projects, so the repair dollar figure is already built into the price I'd pay.

I know but this guy seems to be wanting to buy a daily driver, so I wouldn't feel very safe buying something I can't test drive

If he's looking at cars that are available everywhere in the country, he shouldn't be looking there. Use Ebay to buy cars that you couldn't normally locate locally, or are harder to find.
