A version of the 16G was available on the EVO, but there is also a small 16G and a large 16G as well as some hybrids. The EVO 16G is generally accepted to flow enough for about 300hp on DSM applications when tuned properly (I purchased my car with a small 16G already installed, great transient response).

You're thinking too new. The EVO III came with the "EVO III 16G" as they're known in the DSM community. A very popular modification to left hand mount 4G63 engines.

my friend had an evo III and that was powered by a TD01...? also, my friend liam has a VR-4 Galant (E39A) with a 4G63T and that came stock with a TD03, now powered by a TD05.

I believe it's a TD05... something. They are rarely referred to by those designations in the US (it could be a TD06 of some sort as well). It also appears that I screwed up on my hp rating. The roughly 300hp should have been for the Small 16G.

The new ones are also twin-scroll with a titanium impeller.
