Do people really name their cars???

I'm pretty sure most of us have seen Gone in Sixty Seconds (the one with Nicholas Cage and Angelina Jolie). They named their cars female names so that if anyone was listening on thier radio frequency they wouldn't know what they were really talking about. Do people name their cars for the heck of it?? Do they give 'em female names?? If so, what are some examples??? Is it lame to give your car a name??

Yes its true, some people will name their cars. If they dont name them then they usually atleast refer to them as females. Not sure of names they use (it varies really). I wouldnt say its lame, but as far as i know not everyone does it.

I don't think it's lame to name your car. Now when some people name certain parts of their anatomy, I think that is lame.

I personally don't name my cars. With one exception - my 4X4 Caddy that I built myself. People kept asking me what I called it so I had to come up with a name.

My grandmother on the other hand named her cars. Her last one, which I own, she called her little petunia. I'm sure the people now days don't use such names but you did ask for an example.....

Sailors have always names their ships. Pilots often named their planes. And major machines like these ahve always been considered "she's" ("She's a fine old plane." "She's a solid sailing ship" "Isn't she a beauty?") It follows that many people would name their cars, for much the same reasons.

My wife names her (my) cars and I hate it!!! But only cos I find it makes it harder when I gotta sell or scrap the damn things.

examples: kenny-cos it always died,
homer-cos it was gutless and so lazy,
beast-cos it's big! not her best work here I know.

male names because named by a chick.

Of course! It's a bright green car with hot pink racing stripes on the sides.... Along with Kermit on the Fenders playing guitar.

It's a sexy car.
