Pretty much..put it this way, my friend asked me to start his 5 spd civic up... I couldnt figure out why turning the key wasn't working.

Well see since the only cars I've ever been in have all been automatics, I didn't know you needed the clutch. My Mom never allowed me to ride in "manuals"

yea automatic transmissions are a luxary and higher price option. thus manual transmissions are called standard transmissions cause back in the day thats what came in a car standard unless you shelled out the extra money for an auto. even though now days it seems that autos comes standard. but back in the day it was the opposite
