converted the brown truck from auto to a granny 4 speed, the red car is an auto (but w/ a shift kit, so it's not a total slushbox) ditto the white car (i just don't want to deal w/ cutting my floor up for a 4 speed hump )

prefer manual

Manual Transmissions just seem to be more fun to drive, especially in these boring straight American highways (Im in the Midwest, wish I was on the Westcoast). However there is a downside, its called rush hour traffic. Only then does driving a stick become a pain in the ass. I dunno, I guess I enjoy being in control.

well, it depends on said driving application...if i lived in a city or commuted into a city where traffic was common, i'd prefer an Automatic. however, if i lived in a more rural area and had a less traffic-prone environment, i'll take a standard/manual any day.

i'm pretty close to you, so i know exactly what you're talking about. my job entails driving on the expressway sometimes most of the day...

the biggest jokes are the construction zone signs that say "const. zone speed limit is 45" "your speed is __" it's almost funny when it reads like 5 mph...

Depends.. if I had a long daily commute in heavy traffic (I don't) I would probably want an automatic. For now, I like my 6-spd

Well, to be honest, I havent driven a stick yet. So I dont know, but, Im sure Ill prefer manuel over automatic. I do know however that automatic is better for drag racing though.

i have a automatic and a manual, just prefer the automatic cause when im eating say, mcdonalds at a redlight, one hand on the steering wheel and one hand holding a cheeseburger, i have to sit the burger back down to shift.

I prefer automatics simply for the fact that I have never in my life driven a manual. And for the fact that I need one hand to steer and one hand to hold my cell phone.

i say standard. my first car was an automatic, my 2nd car is a 5 speed.

my new car is much more fun to drive... and it forces me to concentrate much more on what i'm doing, which actually makes me feel like i'm a safer driver now.
