Fastest Production Line Car

Browsing around I came across a fight on another forum.

What exactly is the fastest production line car?

McLaren F1, Bugatti, or the Hennessey Venom Viper

But I think it would have to be the Bugatti Veyron.

That car (as was pointed out in that thread) is still not a production car. There are 11 prototypes curently in testing (and one reached 248 mph under the watchful eye of the TUV back in May '05) but it's still not yet a production car. But hopefully, with the drive of Wolfgang Bernhard, it will finally get there.

Is that Viper considered a production car?

are we talking fastest or quickest here? If were talking quickest then I think I'd take one of the old lotus 7s or similar for the price. 0-60 is in the 2 second realm and cost way less than any other car that can do that.

talking of the bugatti, isn't it currently being held up by the lack of tyres that can handle the speed? last I heard.

And that has yet to be tested. Sorry.

The fastest straight line, I believe is the Mclaren F1 in top speed.

THe saleen S7TT was tested in R&T's Mile long test, and reached the quarter in 10.8, so I suppose that makes it the quarter mile champion. I believe it hit 60 in 3.2, so that mkes it the 0-60 champion also. The Subaru Sti holds the 0-30 record with a time of 1.2 (I didn't believe it when I read it, either).

No, it's been tested with sufficient tires. it's just undergoing certification and final tooling. Wolfgang Bernhard has been pushing to get it on the road as fast as he can get the company to move since he came over from Chrysler and the ME412 project (which was supposedly cancelled, but people still see the prototypes on the track).

I believe it was in either C&R, R&T, or Motortrend's test of RWD, FWD and AWD effects on a car using a Sti, GXP, and G35. The 0-30 time read as 1.2. I don't believe it to be a glitch, either. 4 sticky tires grabbing the tarmac with the boost dialing up, you're going to reach 30 pretty quick.
