Racing wheels fitting wrong

I got a set of mag rims off of a buick regal a while ago and i figured i could get them on my Nova but i come to find that the back wheels are to fat to fit the fenders. We tried cutting the fenders and pounding the wheel well up and i even went as far as to raise the ass end but the bolts for the lift kit were too short to go through the leaf springs. Whats a good way to get these to fit. I even thought about sticking a bat in the well and rolling it through but i dont wanna ruin n e thing.
