i would start by checkin the fluid level first, the banging....tuff call plugged cats don't bang though unless the honeycombs break and fall to the bottom, mufflers will bang if they are broken inside, plugged cats will glow a very nice cherry red when hot at night. you might have a broken shock...or i dunno many things go bang
