Question 1993 Ford Ranger with a bad starter. Any way to get it started?

After going thorough my truck because it wasnt starting, i discovered that I had a bad starter. Only problem is, I need to get it down to the shop to get prices and get it fixed. Besides popping it (its a standard and that is a possibility, although ill need to push it a little ways) is there ANY way to get the truck started? Someone told me fiddling with the starter will get it started, but I dont really know what to do.

Any help would be appreciated. thanks & peace

depends if the solenoid crapped out or the actual starter motor shit the bed.... if you hear a click from the solenoid try tapping on the body of the motor

Before you go buying a new starter, make sure it didn't get disconnected. And stated before, check the solenoid. If you dont know where thats at, if your facing the truck, it will be on the right side bolted to the side on top. The starter will be on the left side underneath. YOu will hve to go underneath teh truck to get a good look at it. Make sure theres no dangling wires. Hope this helps.

Don't be afraid to hit it hard and a number of times. you won't do anymore damage to than going off-road

Tap the starter with mallot or something a bit, and then try and start the vehicle. Perhaps have somebody tap it while you turn the ignition. Don't rely on this trick very much -- it will only work a couple of times at best. Hit it as hard as you want, you'll have to replace it anyways, right?

yeah somebody trying to start while you bang on it would be the best bet, but 2 starts.... good luck, permanent magnets do not like to be hit, , so if it works twice you in luck, and change it
