99' Sunfire stereo problems

Hey, just posting a question for a friend.
OK car info:
99' sunfire 4dr
approx 55,000 km
bone stock.

ok so, we put a sub in the back, just a little one 8" i think. The connection was 'bridged' between the back 2 speekers, it worked. At the end of the night we un-hooked the sub and re-hooked the back 2 stock speakers, and they worked no prob for about 15-20 mins, then they just cut out.
Any ideas? (if i forgot ne info let me know)

When you hooked them back up you might not of got it together tight. You need to try to unhook them and hook them back up. You might get lucky and was just a loose connetion.

My kid the stereo guru says it's almost certainly one of two things.

1. Check your fade adjustment, it might be full forward.

2. If you bridged the rear channel and pushed it hard you may have cooked it or an improper bridge will do the same. Sometime this happens right away and sometimes it takes a while like what happened to you. Not to good.

Ummmmm. I'll have to wait till I can talk to him again. I think you might have to replace the entire car.

Well he gave me a spectacular explanation on the bridge. Unfortunately most of it is above my level of comprehension. Suffice it to say if you're getting nothing through the speakers, hook up a spare set. If they don't work get a new head unit.
