93 Camaro Mystery part

So, I was installing new battery (after my old one sprung a leak...) and found this part underneath the car bolted to the right front. I have absolutely no idea what it did or was, and seeing how the only attachment (a hose) was dangling in the air, I removed it. It was located close to the battery, and the engine coolant reservoir. What in the world is this thing?

just like everyone has said its a vacuum resivoir it store's vacuum for acc's that use vacuum heater/damper door and such. there's not enough for the vacuum booster and with the line disconnected you now have a vacuum leak when the engine is running find the other end of that hose and reconnect it
