Talking New Job...

Ok so I have been working at MCL Motor Cars for about 4 months now as a lot guy. Basically wash cars, deliver cars, keep the lot organized etc. My intent was to get an apprenticeship as a technician. However, this is taking a really long time, as it is not busy enough to require another technician.

So I went on the job hunt and I got a new job. Its at a BMW dealership! Basically I am going to be in the shop helping technicians, until the service manager has enough proof that I will make a good technician, at which point he will make me an apprentice! So I'll be driving and fixing bimmers soon enough.

The only downside to this is that I don't get to drive Aston Martins and Bentley's anymore. Oh well, its for the greater good in my life, so I guess I'll just live with the memory of driving the V12 Vanquish.

Nice! But yes sad about that memory.... although keep it up and maybe someday you will own one!

At MCL I was making $14.72/hour CAD ($12.51 USD) which is extremely high for a lot guy. At BMW I will be making $11/hour CAD ($9.35 USD) which yes is a pay cut, until my apprenticeship which I will be making around $16 CAD, and after 4 years around $32/hour.

Exactly, thats the way I look at it. Besides, driving an Aston is a nice gimmick, but not really an attainable career. (Although we have two Aston techs at MCL, though they mostly work on Jags.)

When I went in for my interview there was a brand new M5 in the showroom.

Which BMW dealership? Is it the brand new huge one on Boundary?
Also, you get employee discount right? I heard they sell really nice car models at the BMW dealerships. Can i buy one off you? Ive been looking around for the M5 model but they are very expensive and rare.

Nope its not Brian Jessel, its Park Shore Motors in North Van. Where do you live? I had no idea you were in the lower mainland...

I live in Vancouver, like not any of the outside cities like mission, burnaby. Just plain old Vancouver. Where do you live?

Wow's that quite a drive to work. How long does it take you to get to MCL?

About an hour during rush hour. It'll be about the same to North Van. I take hastings either way. Then either keep going to MCL, or take the second narrows bridge to Park Shore...
