Solid, Cheap Rally Car?

Hey guys-
Its been a while since Ive posted...School. Anyways my buddy just bought a Volvo 240 2door turbo for a local rally race. I saw some pics of the race, it looked awsome. I was wondering what is a good, solid rally car for a pretty cheap price tag? I really only have like 1200 bucks. What modifications would you recomend? I dont know much about it, and have been reading, but I have about 20 acres I want to ride through. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

BTW-I wasnt sure where to put this thread, move if needed.

well if hes from the U.S. a ford crown vic will take a helluva beating and they are dirt cheap. you can find them everywhere. 1200 bucks seems like an awful lot on something to tear up and thats coming from ME EVEN!!! i wouldnt go no higher than 500.

yeah i hear alot of good things about the escort '79 model. It's won many awards and was dominating the rally stage for sometime until the better machines came out like the quattro.

Thanks for the replies,
So I looked into the Ford and no luck where I am. All there are are 90 or newer FWD. If you guys ever see any, let me know Id appreciate it. Any other suggestion? I dont know if any of you guys have ever rallied before, I went today, it was so much fun. Im still reading, tell me if there is anything I should know. 'Preciate it.

Hey Masuk, good luck on your Rally'ing, and as a fan of the sport (just watch it as I dont have the funds to participate) i would advise you to dump 75% of your budget on the suspension alone. cheers.
