Best Radar Detector?

I was wondering what everybody thinks is the best radar detector. My brother had a Valentine One and thought it was great.

i cant think of the name of mine right off, but it was rated better than the valentine one and passport radar detectors. paid 200 bucks off ebay and it works AWESOME! been pulled over 2 times since ive been drivin on avg. 92 miles one way 184 mls. per day total. first time was no front tag, second time i actually passed the state trooper who was in the left lane and i was in the right lane because he was going 59 in a 60 and he said i was speeding when i was actually going the speedlimit IMO lol. ill run out to my car later and check the name and post it.

HE actually pulled you over for POSSIBLY going a few miles over the limit? MAn, in Atlanta they dont pull you over unless you're doing 16+ over. I've had cops pass me all the time on I-75 (65mph limit off my exit, ges to 55mph in another 8-10 miles or so) when im going 80mph.

bel vector 985. they might have something out better or maybe the competition has outdone them by now. cause this is at least 3 years old but it works great for me still as i travel at least 65 usually but sometimes up to 70-75. if i had to do it all over agian i still wouldnt get anything else and im very satisfied w/ my decision.

Sounds good, also 3 years they should be cheaper by now, a radar detector may be something I get in the future, thanks for the info!

bell and passport are the same company! they have the same results over all testing conditions. At least that is the case today with the current models. The old models were always beaten by valentine over the all important Ka band (important here in nz as thats all the cops use).

I have just bought one of the new passport radars as I read the current reviews and it sounded like it was just as good at detecting Ka as the V1.8!?
WRONG! maybe on the "fair" flat tests and in there conditions, but in everyday use round here, the V1.8 kick it all over the shop!

I am gutted I bought it and will be selling it real soon and paying the extra for a new V1.8 asap. I used to get alerts on ka from miles away round corners and everything, now I get a beep telling me what usually I already know! Maybe point to point on a flat surface this is as good, but most cops get me while waiting round a corner off another street (isn't that always the case?), and my old V1 warned me everytime, this piece of c**p escort beeps when I pass the cop????

You get what you pay for!!! applies to all things!

I have the highest escort..i wanna say the x80? 300 bucks at best buy. never gotten a ticket for speeding only beem stopped once for the cop guessing i was speeding a put his radar detector on and got me. though i slowed down 20mph before he got a reading . when they have their radars on i see them miles away. i love it when my friend and i have a signal and for like a few miles we are trying to find the cop only to find him hiding way up the road and even around a corner! i love this thing and i wouldn't take any other.

I also run with the Passport X50 and have been running with Escort products since the mid 80's. Any detector can pick up signals and let you know when their in the area. What I like is a detector that lets me know that the signal it's picking up is one I should be concerned about. That is what I like about the Passport. If it goes off, I know I should be on the look out.
