Good thinking. Used R32's are falling off trees, it shouldn't be any problem to find one for around $5k. Oh, wait a minute; http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/search...76&x=87 &y=14

Think, type, submit.

I'm getting so sick of people recommending their favorite car to anyone without even reading the person's requirements.

Newbiedude: "Hey I need a good reliable car thats good on gas for about $6000"

CorvetteRacer99: "How about a Corvette Z06?"

exactly... in which case, you could find an r32 somewhere. But he should be able to pick up a gti. For around that price he could also find a nice 320 or 325 bmw...

You can get a ricey civic, or a pretty cool beamer. Lots of options. 5000 is a good budget. Thats the budget I was on, and then stumbled on my Neon for a mere 2500, and I only paid 1500 of that. Look around not just sites, but locally as well.
