We added another Honda to the lineup!!!

So my parents came down to visit me and they had a huge surprise. They bought a new car. Well not really a car, more like a new minivan. They are the proud new owners of a 2003 Honda Odyssey LX. She only had 17,000 miles, not a single scratch, tear, rip, anything. This was a weekend van kept in the garage most of it's life. She's a blast to drive, handles great, acccelerates nicely. 3.5 DOHC VTEC V6, power everything including sliding doors, and to top it off, a security system with remote start. What do you guys think???

I don't really mind the size, but I just saw the switch for the doors...You can open the doors from there? Sweet :smoke2:

Yup, you can open and close them from there or from the OEM remote. (I found out on accident that they will only open while the van is in park). THey open automatically when you open the handle too.

Here's the story,
My dad was orignally going to get an 06 Nissan Quest from Star Nissan. But after test driving it, he said he didn't like it. THey had another Odyssey which according to my dad had some nice stuff. IT had a billet grille, sound system, dvd player, navigation, aftermarket wheels ,dark tints. The down side, 29,000 miles and a sticker price of $26,000. The sales guy told my dad they had another Odyssey coming in within the next 2 days. My dad waited it out, went to the dealer when it arrived, fell in love with it, and brouhgt it home that same day for $18,000 (The sticker price was 20,000).

meh, it's still a minivan. I didn't know they put Vtech's in the Oddesys though, that's pretty interesting.

There is a VTEC or i-VTEC motor in every Honda/Acura.

The Odyssey has had VTEC or i-VTEC for a long time.

The 3.5L VTEC V6 the 2003 has, has 240bhp. It's actually the quickest minivan of it's time.

Now that would kind of defeat the purpose of economy...

Seriously though, it would actually probably end up being about as fast as the current SI with the 2.0L I4, that 3.5L V6 weighs quite some bit more. Imagine the front weight bias too...ouch.

Both, the Odyssey always gets noted for having the best handling by FAR in the minivan segment and still retains a very smooth ride for all the soccer moms.

so far as i know, it's still got the "best" engine in a minivan... but if you want to talk about preformance, the quest has a better power to weight ratio. but the quest didnt exist in 2003.

but anyway, what reason did they have for buying a minivan? do you have some little siblings they need to cart around? usually people buy minivans before their kids start to move out, not after, or do they?
