come on guys give him a break.... i mean i rather have him have a 300zx twin turbo goin 90mph then some Geo goin 90mph cause like u guys said the 300zx is more better for goin that fast cause of handling and brakes. I understand by gettin a high perfromance car for a 1st car is unsafe because there is always that urge to speed, but if he wants it just give him an opinion on a car. Not on wheather he will crash it or not.

I feel safer if he was speeding in a geo metro than in a 300ZXTT. Who knows if the geo can even hit that, and if he crashes, he'd do more damage to his Geo than his 300ZX. In the event of a crash, the 300ZX is more likely to cause more injury to other people on the road than the Geo. (Besides, this way we won't loose another great sports car to the hands of an inexperienced 16 y.o. with some money).

But well lose another geo metro. If I had infinite money I would buy one and make it a 10 second car that would be the ultimate sleeper

Hey guys, I havent posted here in a while but I'm back! I just recently got my permit and now I'm looking for ideas of a first car. I have looked at pretty much everything and havent been able to find the perfect car yet. Its got to have decent mileage, practicality, a fairly cheap price, and its got to be fast. Some of the things that I have looking at are:

VW GTI (maybe 20th Anniversary or 337 if I can afford it. I would probably have to add a short throw shifter to the regular GTI though. I also heard that the suspension setup sucks)
Chevy S-10 Xtreme (extended cab, 4.3L auto)
Chevy Camaro Z28 (possibly SS but its more expensive and hardly faster)
MazdaSpeed Protege
Subaru WRX (not STi because its too expensive)
GMC Syclone (can get one for cheap with more than 70,000 miles but the reliability is iffy)
RSX Type S

I'm open to lots of suggestions but its got to look good and be pretty fast. I know I'm going to get tons of people saying "get a civic and disconnect 3 spark plugs and learn to drive" but I'm going to drive it responsibly - just for the track and backroads and stuff.

What are your opinions? Oh, also, I really am not a huge fan of front wheel drive but. . . a lot of cars are. Also, please do NOT say SRT-4. Its one of my least favorite cars

My suggestion is to get a tidy little 2.0l or there abouts car. Spend a few bob making it look slighly menacing, put the rest of your money into a sound investment and rejoice knowing you may make it to post teens with most limbs intact. Later on when you have established some financial security look at getting into a car that has excessive power for what you need.

Boring I know, but prudence now will pay dividends later.

GOOD GOD GUYS! I just want reccomendations! Not to hear your stupid arguing - STOP GETTING OFF TOPIC!! The car doesnt have to be a ROCKET but it has to be quick. I'm talking about acceleration speed not top end.

Relax, you should know by now that this is how CF is!

Threads do one of two things here.....they eventually die, having fulfilled what they were written for. Or they die, after having been spammed to death, by either natural causes, or by one of us locking it!

Oh yeah...It might also be revived in 2 or 3yrs time, too!

Here is a list of cars that you could get that are decent some already named: cobalt, mazda 6, eclispe gen 2 and 3, 240sx, 300zx, celica, GlS VR6, and the integra. they aren't actually that bad they all are basically near 150hp others more and all are in your price range pending if you can get a deal if you go do a car dealer they go by the what i think msrp or what ever but here a site shows the kelly blue book price www.autos.msn.com if your intrested to look up more cars look at the power and even the gas mileage too. You seemed to be hooked on a track car you been sayin so they work i would perfer and car really cept the first two for my taste of looks but yeah take a look and see what you think

So what about the VW GTI, Mazdaspeed protege, Chevy Camaro Z28/SS, S-10 Xtreme, Scion TC?

Hows the GTI? How hard is it to make it short throw as opposed to long throw? I'd probably be better off spending just 8-10k on a Z28 and be done with it. A fast car that looks awesome, sounds awesome, and is, obviously, fast.

Why don't you get it?...Fast car=

BTW Props to anyone who can tell me what car that is

IMHO Stick with something a little slower than a Camaro, and go with the GTi
