The New BMW 1 Series
BMW have published pictures of its new One Series today. The little ugly duckling of the family officially breaks cover for the first time. Prices for the all-new 1-Series will be announced later in the Spring.

I think that the front end looks good but...............the rear end looks like a golf I heard that it will be pretty cheap for a bmw. But it doest seem to stay true to bmw's roots. (sports car)

I like the look of that...I think it's about time BMW made a car to rival cars like the Vauxhall (Opel) Astra and Ford Focus....and SJ's right, BMW may have made a few Sportier cars in recent times but I wouldn't really say that's where their roots lie! oh..and didn't Chris Bangle resign?

I think I read it, along with a review of the new 5 Series in 'Auto Express' magazine some time ago..I could be wrong though, It wouldn't be the first time a motoring magazine has got it wrong . And I agree, it would certainly be Fosters all round if old Mr.Bangle has left BMW's design in more 'skillfull' hands lol

I don't like 1Series at all. There are many other middle sized cars thar are more beautiful than this one.
ps: edited to correct grammar

It cannot be so difficult. The instruction manual will tell me which pedal is the 'velocitator' and which one is the... 'deceleratrix' (by Mr. C.M. Burns)

Ummm, not really. BMW's first car production car was the Dixi in 1928. It had a whopping 18 hp and a top speed of around 50 mph. As you can see from the picture it's not exactly a hot rod.
From there, their next production car was the 3/20 of 1932. With a huge increase in power to 20 hp it was the first car designed entirely in house by BMW.
We have to go all the way to 1936 to find a car worthy of the race track. That would be the 328 which is considered to be the most successful racing car of the thirties.
So, as you can see it took BMW eight years to go from starting to produce cars to building a car deserving of the moniker "sports car".
