Man can anyone tell me how to, without replacing my shift cables, repair the ends so i can actually drive my car? The cable are expensive and only available thru the dealer.
when the cables get old the ends just corrode
I actually had the end of mine snap off one time and lost my clutch. Instead of getting a new cable which might have taken a while, I took a MIG welders and simply welded it back on. Been working perfectly fine now for over 5 months with no problems. If the weld is done properly it is even stronger than the stock one anyway
1992 Geo Tracker, and no I am not joking...the end of the cable just snapped into two pieces(right down the middle). So I got out my mig welder and welded it back together. I haven't had any problems with it since (Well maybe except for the fact that my clutch pedal squeeks now, but that can be fixed...)
