1. Get your shit together. Figure out what oyu want (at least body style)
2. Go to either www.autotrader.com or www.cars.com
3. Put in the make/model/year/price range/zip of your search
4. See who is selling what call and make arrangements for test drives/checking/etc.etc.
5. Enjoy your new car.

Definately. You dont wana end up buying a car oyu never drove because you dnt know how it behaves, how it reacts at speeds/throttle, oroyou might not lik the fel of car car, suspention, seats, etc.etc.
Think of it this way...if you dont drive it before you buy it, youre likea blind man picking out his favorite porno.

Personally I like most of the cars you listed so really it comes to what you like better or find first. I'm not sure why you limit yourself to 86-87 Camaro though (as the body style was the same frome like 83-92, may of been 84). Your best bet to find these cars really is either Autotrader or by just going around your area checking lots, driveways, backyards, fields, etc and making offers.

as long as you have proper tires, and you know how to drive, none of them should have a problem.

better for what? driving in the snow? well, more power in the snow just means more wheelspin, and that's bad. but it ges back to dodgerforlife's point about knowing how to drive.

The cars you mentioned shouldn't be too much trouble in the snow unless you live on a mountain. At first you'll probably spin out a lot, but eventually you'll learn. Also, you said you wanted a pickup, but not an extended cab. If I'm not mistaken that means you want a 2-seater truck, which is the reason you didn't want the Miata.
From your new list I pick the Mustang. You could pick up a really clean one for under 5K, and as you get more money/experience you can upgrade it. Many people will agree that if your trying to build the fastest car for the least amount of money, the mid 80's to early 90's Mustang is they way to go. I heard from some poeple who were on Pinks! (drag racing show) that the producers said no more Mustangs.

RWD cars are harder to drive in the snow in most cases.

YOU LIKE THE WAY IT DROVE. They are the exact same damn car mechanically. They drive the same. And about the look i prefer the LT1 WS6s to almost any other car on the road.

Also whoever said it earlier. The 5.0 mustangs are no longer that good of a performance platform. Sure there is alot o support for them and everything is cheap but When I frequent the 5.0 forums its pretty deppressing. Some of the guys are stroking the motors and only putting like 380hp to the ground. I really dont like the 5.0s because the displacement advantage that the LT1 and SBC has on it. If you plan on going FI then i doubt those 50 cubes will matter as much. If your going for an N/A screamer I would look into the F-bodies. The LT1 shares almost all its parts with the GEN I SBC and everyone knows there is no bigger aftermarket than the one for the SBC.
