Displacement is only important if you think about it this way. In ideal conditions, where flow, coolant flow, spark, valvetrain durability, octane and all other factors were perfect, the higher displacement will be better. But this isnt a perfect world. There are bad head designs, low compression (stupid EPA shit!), valve float, cooling issues, etc. that can make a smaller engine produce more power because the bigger engine had flaws.

I'm not sure about prices (I'll try and take a quick look), and yes, the SS had a 305 H.O in them.

Okay, quick look on value guides says that an 86' Monte SS is worth less then $8000.. that's not saying they will all sell for that, but you should be able to find them reasonably priced.

There's a regular Monte listed on here for $5400 (I think it was), just scroll to the bottom(ish): http://carsforsale.classifieds1000.c...et/Monte_Carlo
(Plus it's relatively close to you... Ontario).

Quote:
TUNED PORT INJECTION (TPI) is multiport fuel injection system where the runners have been specifically "tuned" to perform optimally at a given RPM range. (TPI) appeared on General Motors vehicles in 1985 (Corvette, Camaro, Pontiac Firebird & Trans AM). Labratories conducted numerous test on the TPI systems indicated that increases of up to 35% in Horsepower, torque and economy over carbureted systems. Since 1983 GM had Borg-Warner T5 five-speed transmission for Camaro, which was never designed for high-performance use and was only rated for up to 300 pounds per foot of torgue (T5s, used 1983-1987 weren´t even designed to handle that much). So torque of the 350 cid TPI was brutal enough to destroy this unit (torque > 300 ft/lbs). So option was limited to the four-speed automatic TH700R4 trans
That should help explain it alittle better, just quickly read that.

Stock:
85'-86' Iroc Camaro (TPI): 190HP 285TQ
87' Iroc Camaro (TPI): 190HP 295TQ
88' Iroc Camaro (TPI): 195HP 295TQ

Stock:
83' Monte Carlo SS: 175HP 230TQ
84' Monte Carlo SS: 180HP 225TQ

The Camaro link: http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/G...motorspec.html

That's the best I can get... it's harder to find the HP ratings on the Monte Carlo so I may be alittle off there. Weight of each car would also kind of play a factor, like if the Camaro weighs a lot more then the Monte, then that could set of the Power to Weight ratio. Personally I'd go with whatever one you like the looks of more, they both seem kind of even in the power (not sure of weight) so it's not a whole lot of difference.

It's no problem. I think the Monte would have more space for stuff like that with the bigger trunk then a Camaro would with a small(er) space in/under the hatch... plus people can see what you have in the Camaro through the hatch window (example: your system and other valueables that may look tempting to steal).
