Quick Comparison

I'm looking to buy a car this year that must meet the following criteria:
AWD
200+ horses with room to improve
Manual Transmission
SUVs, Trucks, etc need not apply
< $40,000.00

What I've found so far are the VW R32, Mistu EVO, and Subie STi. While the 325Xi meets most of my requirements (not enough hp) I'm still looking at it, too. (If the A3 3.2 gets to the US this year, I'll include that in my short list as well).

I'm leaning toward the VW at the moment, but I'm open to other suggestions or viewpoints.

My heart says R32 but my head says STi. I think the VW would be a better drive, but until they get their spotty reliability issues under control I still say buy Japan Inc. As for the EVO, a friend of mine is service manager at the local VW/Mitsu dealership and he feels any Mitsu is a worse bet than the VW from the quality standpoint.

Still the R32 looks like a badass car.

If you want a Mk 5 R32 golf then it is exactly the same as the Audi A3 3.2. both will be available with the DSG gearboxes and both will have 250 bhp. Very good cars but apparently you have reliability issues with VW's over there... Never had problems with them personally.. The Evo will be the fastest for your money but overall the Subaru is probably the best choice..

jon348, perhaps you should visit the "Humor that Nobody Understands or Cares About" forum. I think they're saving a space for you.

Phew..you mean I'm not the only one who doesn't understand a bloody word he says? ...Oh..and I would go with the Golf or A3, As R34 said, they both have the same engine so are equally as powerfull and they're both AWD too

The good new Cliffy, for me anyway, is that he's one of YOUR countrymen. You and Snoope have much to be proud of.

british thing

golfs are nice, but at the end of the day there are too many on the roads to be different, vw good make but they have been savaged by the mod scene in the uk.

audi again s3 is the top car in the range, small fast and fully loaded.

just if you want something a bit different, you should try

lara croft ltd edition land rover, the one in the first film!

pajero evolution, like the car but 4x4

evo 7 the best of the range,
cosworth have a new focus looking good,
or even go old school and dig out the brabus merc!!!!!!!!!!!
or hang on for the c4 wrc speck(geneva motor show)

as for my volvo thing the t5r is great had one for a bit superb.

I agree that the T5's are exellent cars, I sure wouldn't turn one down, even if it is a Volvo!
