97 Lumona Spit and Sputter

My mom's car was just fine until the other day and then it started to spit and sputter and won't go over 25 mph.. My dad tested the alternator, changed battery, and the fuel filter, any other ideas I can pass along?

Is it 25 mph or a certain RPM?

Check for a rotten egg smell coming from the muffler. It could be a catalytic converter problem. Is your check engine light on?
