its called the "global engine"... it's not from the dodge parts bin.

damlier chrysler, mitsubishi, and hyundai were all like "let's build some new engines for our cars!! yaaaaay!!"

and they did.

and now the caliber and lancer will use the same (family) of engines... the srt4 will use a 2.4L version i believe, while the lancer may stick with a 2.0L engine...

and about the platform. you're wrong on that too. mitsubishi designed it, and it's called the GS platform. the caliber will use it, and a few other new dodge vehicles, like the new agenver.

Technically, yes, I think so. But I saw it in this week's issue of Auto Express and they've driven the test mule so they can get performance figures etc, so I think it's gonna look like that! btw.....280bhp only.....Unless you're in the UK, then it's boosted to 350bhp

i'd wager a guess it's got to do with emissions... and maybe the roads over there are in better condition then in the usa...

I'd agree with the emissions, especially when comparing UK spec to Jap spec, as their regulations are extreamly harsh!....not sure about yours though?

As for the roads...well, all I can say is that I'm not entirely sure why we pay our road tax.....lol, I dont think it would effect a new cars power anyway to be honest!

The worst roads I've seen though, were in Ireland, half the time they were just gravel tracks. Over here they're not alot better either. I'm not sure if it's the same there, but over here they seem to dig up roads and only resurface parts of them lol. They also seem to dig up roads for no apparent reason...then cause as much road chaos as possible, before filling them in. I could go on....but it sure would take me a while lol.....too long!

There's a reason these two cars are lusted after by people with design education, journalists, and just motoring geeks... the timeless classic beauty makes the EVO look like an uninspiring block.

Let's see the EVO become a collector icon for it's beauty, and an appreciating classic car.

I have no doubt that the Evo will never receive Classic car status, like say....the MX5 (Eunos Roadster) is likely to. It's just that the E-Type for one, has never appealed to me

I dunno....I still recon it's sexy aswell as menacing lol. Certainly one of the mostgood looking cars I've ever seen....a massive step forward for the Evo, too, given that all recent Evo's kinda all look the same!

So, from an objective, outside viewpoint, why do you think the E type has always held the title of "sexy" car, and been acclaimed so internationally, and was a classic from day one, while the Evo, even as you agree, won't?

What about the design of the E type or the Ferrari I posted gave it sex appeal that spans generations, genders, and societal boundaries? And what, in your opinion makes the Evo "sexier," other than the agressive stance?
