Contour vs Camry

Alright, im new, wasn't sure where to put this.

Right now, i have a 98 contour, 4 cyl. It is very slow...i know. In a few months im going to be getting my dad's camry. It is also a 4 cyl. My question is, will the camry be any faster than my contour? And also, is there any easy ways to make the camry faster? I can change breaks, tires, and such, but i really don't know too much about cars.

well brakes and tires wont get you going much faster,
I say just hold out until you can get a fast car later on

Contour has 125 hp, 130 torque with 2 L engine.
Camry has 133 hp, 147 torque with 2.2 L engine.

But camry is slightly heavier car.

Although top speeds aren't important as you'll never hit them, the Camry tops out at 135mph, and the Contour at 106mph...You can mod them both, but do you really want a faster car, if so, how much faster, and how much are you willing to spend?...

well, i don't plan on racing or any of that kinda stuff. i just like to be able to accelerate fast. I did a kelly blue book on the camry im getting and its worth about 4600. The contour is worth about 1800. I don't know how hard it is to sell, i was thinking that i'd prolly get about 6 after everything is done.

I need a car that will last at least 4 years (will only be driving it during the summer because of college).

I'd rather not blow more than 3-5k on a car, seeing as if its a lemon, i'd be strapped for cash.

Camry's are not good cars to mod on, especially the Four Banger. Not a performance vehicle.
