intrepid gas gage problem?

say i have a 94 intrepid and i have been having a problem with the gas gage since i got the car about 5 years ago. the gage goes up and down the range with a tank full of gas until it gets empty. the gas symbol and the trip meter are also affected. i took off the wires to the fuel pump to see if they were corroded but they looked real clean no water or other debris was in the area of that access opening. i have removed the connectors on the r/h side and made sure they were clean just in case, they all looked good also. i don't think the gage is bad because if the car is still the problem will go away. it may be the fuel sender or maybe the body computer but i don't want to guess so I'm asking if anyone here has had this problem and got it corrected? thanks

you mean it moves up and down...a little bit? because mine does the same thing...if I accelerate too hard or go up a big hill it will go down like an 1/8th of a tank then go back up after a while
