Performance Muffler

I was wondering if it was possible to put one of those performance mufflers (like a 2.5" in and 3" out) on a Geo Tracker in the middle of the exhaust where the stock muffler is. The pipe going in and out it 2" so I know I would need some pipe expansions in there and all...but would it actually sound good or would the 2" out severely muffle the sound?

wait... geo tracker?

your gonna have a 4x4 that sounds like a civic

i guess any performance muffler would make it louder, they might sound a little weird though

Better to put your money in a high yield savings account. At least that'll accomplish something useful.

Why...cuz I like the deep rumble. I was just wondering if a 2" pipe would muffle it or if putting an expanded pipe at 3" at the end of it would help (Venturi effect) making it go 3" down to 2" then back to 3" at the end

Newsflash! Geo Tracker + "performance muffler" does not = "deep rumble".

Hey. there are 4-cylinder cars out there that could produce a nice rumble, so why couldn't mine?
Anyone know how those fireball ones are?

You want a rumble then whip the head off and make the exhaust ports bigger than the intake ports. Can't vouch for improved performance though.

One of these... How would that sound?

No I am not trying to advertise that site...though anyone who lives in Canada should know about it and they don't ship to the US anyways

this reminds me, my roommate has a 05 corolla and he thinks that it "purrs" LOL, yeah, it "purrs" like my tractor "whines" LMFAO. And if you get a muff w/ bigger in/out's you should just re-do the whole exhaust with the same size plumbing, and get headers

Ok, yes I know it would be better to redo the entire exhaust with that size...but that would cost quite a lot to do...plus there is no way I want a damn 3" exhaust all the way back...

You don't need 3" pipe and you don't need a different muffler. It's a Geo f*cking Tracker. Put a chrome tip on it (davsmitty can give you a dissertation on chrome) and call it quits.
