A friend of mine works at an audio shop and said that Kicker basically took the cone from the CVR and put it on the L7 motor. So, does anyone know the size of the magnet? I picked it up and it wieghs about twice that of the CVR. I was wondering if its possible to put the cone and coil(s) of a subwoofer onto a different/bigger magnet structure.
Also, T-Bird, are these speakers any good? Have you heard/ heard of the brand? http://www.etronics.com/product.asp?...ore=&catid=358

The COMP VX is actually slotted between the L7 and L5 pricewise, and its motor structure is about basically identical to the L7's. Obviously the L7 is priced a little higher because it has more cone area and will get slightly louder, but I'd go to bet the CVX has a bit better SQ since it's not a sqaure cone sub.
Yes it's possible to interchange the soft parts and hard parts of subwoofers, it's called making hybrids, or prototypes. Although, this isnt easy unless you are very skilled in the art of building subs. I haven't tried it yet, but eventually will.
Profile makes horrible sounding speakers...I dont recommend them at all. You pay for what you get. If you're looking for 6.5" speakers the LOWEST I'd recommend are these...
