1993 Grand Am 3.3L intake manifold replacement

Good morning all,

We're changing the intake manifold gasket on my 1993 Grand Am 3300. Its got 284,000 kms (175,000 miles).

When the intake was removed, there was some sludge around the oil jackets, is this normal? The gasket was pretty mangled and deteriorating at both the oil and water / coolant ports. (are they called oil jackets or ports? Like a water jacket)

Does anybody have a trick for re-installing the injector clips that sit just under the fuel rail on the injectors. What a royal pain in the ass those are! Can you lubricate the clip a bit to facilitate re-installation. Lost one, down the depths near exhaust, luckily we have another car just like it for this particular purpose. Going to rob one from the parts car.

Any information, advice, tips and tricks would be greatly appreciated.

M.
