The number you're looking for is stamped on the case directly below to generator stand flange. Tell me what it is and I'll tell you what you have.

Your case would have originally been installed in a '71 US spec Beetle. That means that it was originally a 1600cc (1585) dual port, dual oil pressure relief, doghouse oil cooler style engine. Keep in mind, that's what it was from the factory. The only way to determine for sure what it is now is to open it up and take some measurements.

What was the bore, stroke, advertised SAE horsepower, oil capacity and valve lash?

By valve lash do you mean play or along those lines?

I don't even know what "play of along those lines" means. How am I to respond? Besides that, it's time for you to be put on the spot. You have claimed on these forums to me a mechanic, and when called on that, a mechanics apprentice. Valve lash is one of the most basic of all measurements pertaining to an engine and you don't know what it is? Shocking.

I'll be happy to answer your question when it's worded so the average adult can understand it.

Hehe yes I did work as an apprentice at Coreys Ohio Auto, you know the one on Clearwater Largo Road , but what I meant was is there another term for "lashing" like "freeplaying" (as the people in the garage called it sometimes)

I have never in over 30 years working in the business heard the term "freeplaying". I'm stumped.
