You mean like a AA battery or something? That won't do anything other than possibly damage the fuel pump...

i think what he's suggesting is that the fuel will conduct from the +ve to the -ve terminals, with low enough resistance to cause significant current, ie heat, ie spark, ie boom.... couldn't tell you if it'll happen or not.

I don't see how it would work. If the car blew up instantly when he put the battery in, I'm thinking that he would get more hurt than you. If it took a while to heat up, it's unlikely you'd be in the car when it happened. That's IF the battery could get hot enough (I doubt it could).

I'll have to try that tomorrow...I'll drop a 9V battery (probably the only one that might do something) in some gas and tell you what happens lol.

The battery would have to spark to cause an explosion....I fail to see how this would happen, however, I've never attempted it, so I guess anything is possible, lol

If he wanted to cause damage without being nicked for arson, he could have put sugar in the tank or something lol

Finally got around to doing it (I kept forgetting and I can only do it when my parents aren't home

Turns out nothing happens...I tested the battery before putting it in and it gave 8.3V or something like that...Here's what happened there...And after about 5 minutes, I realized nothing was happening so I went and got a lighter, hoping for a big flame, but all I got was a lot of smoke, as seen here. Pretty uneventful Lol.

The hardest part to believe is that the battery still worked after that!
