Timing

My friend has a 1989 Nissan 240sx, 5spd with just over 249XXXkm. He has been told that the timing is off, but he doesn't know how to set/change the timing.

Can anyone help with an explanation (brief if wanted) on how to set the timing on an 89' 240sx, and what the timing should be (set at)?

Thanks for your help, I'll also be trying to look on Google

dont quote me "BUT", if all timing gears are the same then the dot on the cam gear should be facing down and the crank gear facing up.

Unfortunately there is no convention for dots (dimples).

try Ozdat, Datnet, Datrats, Nissanforums, etc. Someone will have an extract from the workshop manual. Or just buy a manual.

Well not brief, but here's some reading material.
