U.S. Military member w/a 1987 Ford Escort GT

I have a 1987 Ford Escort GT.
I'm currently in the United States Air Force stationed at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio TX.

I want to switch my car from a fwd to a rwd. Believe me, I know it's a stretch and a lot of work. But I'm willing to do it. Even if I have to do it myself. I have two reasons for wanting to do this. 1. I love RWD cars. and 2. is that I want to a swap out my 1.9L for a larger engine.

So anyway... If any of you know people in the San Antonio area that own a shop or could give me a place to start working on my car I would be more than appreciative.

Right now I'm open to suggestions comments and any hlepful remarks.

Thanks A1C Gundy
