The program they used there looked like it was similar to AutoCAD (but probably different because AutoCAD isn't that great with 3-D rendering)...Maybe CadKey or something, but that's not the best program for your intentions (If I understood them right). If you want to just get a picture of a Supra and then see what it would look like with a paint job, new wheels, a spoiler, etc., then get Photoshop.

I always assumed that the program used in The Fast and the Furious was fictional...

Never thought about it lol...And I don't really remember the movie, but I'm pretty sure it looked like some kind of Cad program.

As chris said, it's probably a CAD program ( I haven't seen all of F&F1). To design a car from the ground up would not be easy, infact it would be a HUGE undertaking even if you were experienced in CAD. If you still want to give it a go AutoCAD is the standard CAD program. I really can't stress how time consuming something like this would be though.

EDIT: My post count is 4-4-2! Sweet.

I'm sure the program in the movie doesn't actually exist, but if you wanted to do something like that I would suggest getting a CAD program as stated, find models of the cars you want on the internet(sure there are plenty), learn the program, and model the parts you want to see yourself.

Correct. I didn't think I'd have to explain it on CAR forums!

Anything AutoCAD2000 or better incorporates 3D "dumb" solid designs, meaning that a car can be designed in AutoCAD. Not the easiest program to use, however many tutorials exist to help you out. Another program that you may want to look at is CATIA V5R17, another 3d solid design program.
