peugeot 106 door locks

I have a peugeot 106 3 door 1997 P plate and am about to fit a remote central locking/alarming kit. I have spoken to the supplier of these kits and they have asured me that the alarm will fit and work, however, gettin the remote central locking kit to work depends upon how the locks function as they lock/unlock.

My question is: Do they function in an up/down motion or a side to side motion?

This may sound daft as the car has pull up/push down levers on the inside of the doors to lock/unlock them.

Any help would be greatfull,
Thanks Gav

Common sense would tell me that given how the buttons are (push/pull, up/down), they function up/down....
