You don't buy an Elise for quarter times. This is the car that put the auto world on notice when it comes to tuned suspension

Yeah, it's more about performance. Who cares what a car can do in a straight line? Although that never hurts :$

Thats what I figured. weak engine, but that weight puts it in the 1/4 some, it isn't built for straight line racing anyway, I realize that, I just wanted to see what bronxie's concept of "FAST" was.

Well, what's your idea of fast then?

If you want to get aftermarket parts for the Elise, wouldn't you look towards a Toyota specialist seeing as though the engine is from a Celica? A Jackson racing supercharger would spice things up nicely for those who feel something lacking.

Is that compatible with its engine?

That was funny seeing as how I own an LS1 now. I consider that decently fast for stock. But to me 12 and under is fast.

What Ferrari will it smoke? Name ONE.

That weak ass Toyota engine isn't enough to make me pay $40,000+ for a stupidly small, stupidly uncomfortable Lotus. Their performance figures for the Exige were attained from Exiges equipped with inconvient Race-Spec tires. Poor mid-range torque means you will have to thrash the engine to get decent performance. Drive with a passenger and your weight-induced performance figures will suffer. But you won't get many passengers because the passenger side is about half the size of the stupidly small driver's area. Great track car, but for a road car, what are you paying for? A Celica engine? I'd much rather a FASTER IN EVERYWAY Corvette.

they are cool, but not quite as cool as the esprit. v8 twin turbo, to feel those turbos kick in is a thrill in its own. but back to topic, i would own one for that price.

Ferrari has been coming out with "luxurious", over-weight, passenger cars, like the 612 scaglietti. It would demolish that on a track. The ferrari may accelerate faster, but only slightly...for a $250,000 price tag as well.

And the only porsche models that even accelerate faster are the 911 carrera S's, 911 turbo and gt3, all priced MUCH higher. You see my point, and this isn't even including performance. It runs a 71.6 in a slalom test...that's .2 sec faster than a porsche carrera 4s, a car that costs twice as much. It's hard to argue against that, even though it does have a toyota engine. Mind you, I drove with a passenger during the test drive and I still came here to write this topic over how great it was. It's not like I've never driven a fast car either.

And when it comes to a sports car, what else can you ask for for this price? I don't know how much you value should be placed on a car because of its engine, but what about engineering and design? Lotus engineering isn't like any other, it's very unique.

As for being uncomfortable, I have driven a porsche boxster s before and a z4 si and they are mighty uncomfortable as well. Cramped on both sides, all that's there with you is the steering wheel, and your foot has to sit on the clutch so you can fit. (for me anyways)

Also a corvette convertible is too expensive. I don't want the coupe, either. And aside from that, EVERYONE has a corvette where I live..not to mention BMWs spewing out of this area's ass. I'd like to have something different for once.

You say the the weight induced performance suffers with a passenger, but for the same reason, the weight induced performance is very elastic to any changes you make. I bet if I bought an air intake from this company, acceleration would improve. Even the sports package decreases 0-60 time by .2 secs...that's amazing. How many cars can you name that have a performance option (other than engine option) that increase the acceleration by that much?

Lastly, the driver's area is pretty much the same as the passenger's area..I was in both. I don't like hauling people around either lol.

Ok, so what car would you suggest for the same price?
