I Come From The Land Downunder

but I sure as sh%t can't bring any vegemite with me to the land of the free it seems.

I wonder what potential money grab is behind the idiots in Washington banning the sale of Vegemite in the US? It's not as if any US citizen would like the stuff anyway (not sweet enough and they try to spread it too thick).

It's ok to serve up Maccas to the population making them obese, mal nutritioned and dentally challenged, but here is a spread that gives you a quarter of the daily needs on just one slice of bread and it's banned because it has some folate which is proven to be a good thing.

Lol
I also read that it was un-banned from the U.S. (But then again it's from Wikipedia, so it might be wrong lol).
Couldn't I just make my own at home? lol.

i dont think youd be able to make it at home!!! apparently, if you get the ingredients wrong in a certain way, it can have drastic effects, like mayonnaise!!!

UK Marmite is available in Australia in the 125g size from several small imported food stores. There is also an imported version called "Our Mate" which is produced by Unilever in the UK. These are also sold in the 125g size, and look identical to UK Marmite except for the name. The taste is also identical to UK Marmite. The label states "Made in the UK by Unilever Bestfoods".

You mean that it might turn to mayonnaise or that making mayonnaise is dangerous for the same reasons? lol.

The governement has not banned Vegemite.

http://www.snopes.com/food/warnings/vegemite.asp

Apparently Kraft thinks there's a ban due to folate, but the FDA hasn't said anything about it, and is not targeting it.

Never let a good yarn spoil the truth. But there is precedent:
