Double-clutching

My friend was telling me all the mistakes in The Fast and The Furious, and one of them is that Diesel's character tells Walkers character that he shouldve double-clutched. He said double-clutching would be useless in a drag race because you dont downshift. I dont believe him. Is there any truth to this?
