It is indeed. Off to the bottom right of the last picture is the water pump (where you can see it has been recently replaced). Out of the picture but what would be up and to the right is where the belt loops around this part.

the only other thing i can think is a supercharger... you have a 3.8?

I do have a 3.8, and you're sort of hovering around the general area still but not quite there.

I was gonna say either the crankshaft pulley or tensioner pulley, but I think Bubba got it.

Haha, you're getting closer, I see it on that diagram, though my layout isn't like that and the part goes by a different name. Come to think of it, I don't know what that thing is to the left of the water pump. Supercharger maybe?

That's where i got the idea... hmm... must. figure. out. Its probably so simple i'll hit myself on the head after i find out...

edit: um... i think everything else has been mentioned, er power steering?

Like the water pump, the alternator is also right next to this item, but the drivebelt doesn't go to it immediately following the part, though.

aw... if its not an idler then i honestly don't know..

crankshaft, AC, power steering, water pump, tension gears, alternator have already been mentioned ...

You're close enough to where I'll go ahead and give it to you. The part involved is the drive belt autotensioner, but can you tell specifically what that area of the autotensioner is for?

Well, you had one correct word in describing that area: tension.

Think about why I might have taken a picture of that specifically.

to confuse me

To adjust the tension maybe.. asuming thats what the marks are for maybe??
