1990 Geo Tracker

HEY EVERYONE! My name is Mike. I bought a 1990 geo tracker , for my son,in 2005, he didn`t know i bought it till he came home from school, well to make a long story short he didn`t like it so he is walking and i`m driving it ,now here is my trouble, it quit running on me .i started it up today ,left it run to warm up, for about 10 min, got in to take it down the road ,didn`t even put the seatbelt on and it quit ??????? so i try to start it again ,it will turn over but it won`t start this thing ran fine for a hole year now this. so has anyone have the same trouble i`m having or had and how did you fix it so if you know what could be the trouble, you can email me at MBrwolflazer@hotmail.com, thanks for helping out o yes the suv has 86,xxx miles clean very clean . thanks you guys later

Your son seems a bit ungreatful to me.. Also, why join a forum just to get members to email you with an answer to your question? That seems ungreatful too.

nope i know the starter is fine . the car turns over good just won`t start??????. thanks True Brit

ignition? fuel? timing?

see if you get a signal from a timing light
is the fuel pump turning on with ignition?

My old car had the same problem, it was the neutral switch i believe, Try putting it into neutral then starting it. if it starts thier ya go if not...sorry for the luck. and yeah your son is ungreatful. i'd love for my mom to just buy me a car.

nope no signal with the timing light, the fuel pump dont come on when the ignition is on ,and i`m getting no spark when i turn the motor over, thanks for your time carls47807!! ....could it be the ecm ???? 319$ for one .i only paid 2,000$ for the car , but the thing ran good till now.CORRETION i do have spark and i do have fuel an the timing light worked . never trust your friend to do your job.. but still nothing

nope still don`t start when in neutral. thanks neil3184 for your time . I thought it may have been the gas cap not on tight but that wasn`t it. that would be great if that was it or funny i guess. later thanks

ok this is what i found , the fuel pump is going out. pumps when it wants to the relay is good, so i`m off this week coming so i will pull the tank and get a new one, i just filled it up too, anyone need any gas i think it has 12 gallons in it...lol lol . so when it was stalling out, thats an indication that the pump is about ready to go out, glad it went out in the driveway and not on the road, Thanks guys for the help..later
